Climbing the greasy pole...

On September 28th 2003 I was selected by North Norfolk Conservatives as their Prospective Parliamentray Candidate for the next General Election.

It really is up to every Conservative to do their bit in fighting this appalling Labour government. The Party must get over its current period of naval gazing and reach out to all those people who have become disillusioned with both New Labour and the whole political process. We Conservatives need to demonstrate that we have the ideas, energy and commitment - and above all unity of message - to become an alternative Government in waiting. There are millions of people out there who are waiting for the Conservative Party to do just that. The task for the Party's leadership is to make us proud to be Conservatives again. Too many Conservatives feel like the political equivalent of estate agents. If we are to be successful we must approach every doorstep knowing why we are Conservatives and able to go on the attack. The time for defensiveness and apology is over. Yes, in 18 years in power we may have got some things wrong. We were bound to. But we also did a huge number of things that benefited our country. It's about time we reminded people of that. Let's go to it!
