- MICHAEL EHIOZE-EDIAE at 19 years of age is one of the CCF's youngest members.
Growing up in a family in which both parents worked in the civil service developed my interest in politics combined with newspaper reading from an early age. I had always wanted to be involved in politics but did not really have a particular area of interest.
I committed myself to the Lord about two years ago which produced radical changes in my life. I then decided that if I ever went into politics, it would be to serve the Lord. It was at this point I joined the Conservative Party despite concerns from other people of my race. I chose the Conservative Party because I share its views on the importance of the free market and its belief in individual responsibility. I was brought up to respect family life and I do not find that respect in the policies of the Labour or Liberal Democrat parties.
Shortly after joining the Conservatives I heard about the CCF. I met Tim, Director of CCF, a few days after and was really impressed with what I saw. Although the CCF supports the Conservative Party it values its links with Christians in other parties and holds regular consultations with churches throughout Britain as part of its policy advice to the Conservative leadership.
Now I am one of the staff of the Fellowship which gives me the opportunity to serve the Lord and serve the country. I am particularly involved in its youth section - CCF under 30. CCF under 30 is encouraging and equipping young Christian involvement in Conservative politics.
