| "Upon arrival at Westminster I have found many Christian MPs on all sides, more Christians than in society at large. This challenges the received wisdom! And CCF has been there throughout to provide prayerful support."

People might be surprised to know that what drew me into politics was the MPs and MEPs I met. During 15 years working in the sugar industry I found myself before select committees defending the way we did things. It became increasingly clear to me that I wanted to be on the other side of the table getting to the truth and trying to establish the right thing to do. Sugar is a political commodity grown in many developing nations. So I set about finding out how to become an MP.
I wanted to help try and redress the balance between rich and poor nations. There was no question in my mind about being a Conservative. It is plain at the level of international trade that communism and socialism do not work. It took me nine years to achieve my goal, not without its ups and downs but I was always sure of my calling.
Upon arrival at Westminster I have found many Christian MPs on all sides, more Christians than in society at large. This challenges the received wisdom! And CCF has been there throughout to provide prayerful support.
To keep me on the straight and narrow I take a verse from Micah, "to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly before your God".
