THREE CHEERS FOR TORY SCHOOL CHOICE POLICIES

JOHN CLARE, Daily Telegraph

Anyone distressed by tonight's Channel 5 documentary Classroom Chaos could be forgiven for thinking that some schools are beyond repair. But the hell of teaching in Britain's sink schools, as revealed in the programme, can be alleviated. Poor discipline is just one of the aspects of the education system that are met in the Conservatives' plans for our schools - in some respects, they are the most radical the party has ever embraced. Pre-eminent among them is a scheme for making schools responsive to parents' wishes - and in the current climate you can't get much more radical than that.

LABOUR MUST GO for the sake of the poor
