Up the Thames before Breakfast
This years Henley Regatta Dawn Swim was won by first time Entrant Joel Scott-Winter. His time of 29 minutes 30 seconds set a new course record. The first woman past the post was Charlotte Cox in a time of 35:10. Tom Kean was the top Wycombe swimmer finishing in second place. Tom won both the previous year's races but with a record entry of 32 swimmers was pleased with his 30:42 swim this year. Chris Newell also put in a good showing taking the 4th place in a time of 32.51. Andrew Allum's decision to swim Butterfly may have held him back somewhat; he finished in 44:40.
This years race was held as usual at the unconventional time of 4:30am, 2.1km upstream against a modest 0.11m/s current at the half-way point. The water temperature was a pleasant 19C and the absence of wind helped to ensure that all entrants finished the event.
