...Successful Day For WDSC Swimmers
WDSC took over 40 swimmers to the Newbury Open Meet on Saturday, including some Transition 2 members for whom this was their first Open Meet.
Wycombe swimmers swam exceptionally well, with over 90% PB times (87 in total) and with many swimmers making numerous finals.
The two outstanding swimmers of the meet were Kayla Dreisinger (4 1st and 1 3rd place) and Matthew Sowerby (3 1st and 1 2nd).
The results from the finals were as follows:
Girls 13/14 yr age group: Kayla Dreisinger came first in 100 freestyle 1.06.83 PB, 200IM 2.42.30 PB, 100 fly 1.19.74 PB, 100 breaststroke 1.22.73 PB, 100 backstroke 1.13.71.
In the Girls 11/12 yr age group Nicola Evans came 4th in the 100 backstroke 1.23.35 PB and the 100 breaststroke 1.34.07 PB, and 6th in the 100 fly 1.33.66 PB and 100 freestyle 1.15.51 PB.
In the Boys 11/12 yr age group, Joe Ruler came 1st in the 100 backstroke 1.20.06 PB, 100 freestyle 1.10.03 PB and 200 IM 2.59.98.
In the Girls 15+ age group Emma Sowerby had a 4th in the 100 fly 1.14.63, a 3rd in the 100 backstroke 1.14.77 PB and 2nd in the 200 IM 2.40.79.
Andrew Allum (a Masters swimmer)placed 5th in the Boys 15+ 100 fly 1.06.78.
Ann-Marie Solowin placed 5th in the Girls 13/14 yr age group 100 freestyle 1.10.42 and 5th in the 100 fly 1.22.72.
Tim Philpott placed 1st in the Boys 15+ age group in the 100 breaststroke 1.16.45.
Katie Giles placed 1st in the Girls 15+ yr 100 backstroke 1.12.80 PB.
Matthew Sowerby, in the 13/14 yr age group, was 1st in the 100 free 1.03.00 PB, 2nd in the 100 breaststroke 1.25.00 PB, 1st in the 100 backstroke 1.13.47 PB and 1st in the 200 IM 2.39.40 PB.
Chris Hussey, in the Boys 10 and under age group, was 4th in the 50 breaststroke 47.62 PB, 6th in the 50 freestyle 36.11 and 6th in the 50 fly 48.90 PB.
Megan Hipkiss, in the Girls 11/12 yr age group, placed 3rd in the 100 freestyle 1.12.60 PB, 3rd in the 100 breaststroke 1.33.61 PB, 1st in the 100 fly 1.22.87 PB and 3rd in the 200 IM 2.57.46 PB.
Jack Yates came 3rd in the 11/12 yr Boys 100 freestyle 1.11.74 PB.
Chloe Kearns came 5th in the Girls 10 and under 50 freestyle 36.01 PB.
Rachel Cordice came 6th in the Girls 13/14 yr breaststroke 1.31.86.
Amy Grafton-Mitchell came 6th in the Girls 11/12 100 breaststroke 1.34.86 PB.
Amber Wood placed 2nd in the Girls 15+ 100 backstroke 1.14.89 PB.
Kimberley Dreisinger, in the Girls 15+ age group came 5th in the 100 backstroke 1.15.49 PB, 5th in the 100 freestyle 1.07.98 PB and 3rd in the 100 breaststroke 1.24.27.
Then brother Michael Dreisinger, in the Boys 10 and under age group, placed 6th in the 50 backstroke 42.60 and 4th in the 4x25 IM 1.31.37 PB.
Particular congratulations go to those swimmers who attended an Open Meet for the first time: Katie Cannon (3 PBs), Zoe Harris (3 PBs), George Hunter (3 PBs), Mhari Holland (1 PB), Lauren Eastman (3 PBs and 1st reserve for 50m fly final), Isobel Turner (4 PBs). This was 100% personal bests for these swimmers.
So with a total of 13 golds, 3 silvers and 7 bronze medals and many swimmers who did not make finals, but produced massive PB times, this was a very long and successful day for WDSC. Many thanks to Mick and Maggie for their hard work all day.
