Sam Straughan gains 2 NQTs
The South East Region Age-Group Championships took place over two weekends in the new K2 Centre in Crawley. The events were all long course, and some of our younger swimmers doing this event for the first time.
Sam Straughan swam magnificently to gain two national qualifying times. He was placed 2nd in the 13yrs boys 400m freestyle in 4.31.22 (NQT), 2nd in the 1500m freestyle in 17.55.64 (NQT), and 3rd in the 200m Individul Medley in 2.28.82.
Daniel Crawford took 4th place in the 14yr boys 200m backstroke in 2.24.99, a personal best.
Evie Lees was placed 5th in the 10yr girls 200m backstroke in 2.58 79, a personal best.
There were many other personal bests swum over the whole event, including Chris Hussey (10yr boys) who knocked 8 seconds off his 200m breaststoke personal best (having never swum it long course), gaining a District qualifying time in the process.
