WDSC Placed Fourth Of 60 Clubs
WDSC's top squad travelled to Guildford last weekend to compete in the Guildford City Open Meet. Once again they performed well, placing fourth of the 60 clubs, gaining 48 medals (18 golds, 17 silver and 13 bronze) and recording 38 personal best times.
The club's most successful swimmer was 16 year old Robert Matthews Stroud, winning golds in the 16 yr age group in 50/100/200 and 400 freestyle, 100 IM and silvers in the 50/100 backstroke.
Katie Ambridge in the 16 yr age group collected golds in the 200 breatstroke and 50 butterfly, silvers in the 100/200/400 freestyles and a bronze in the 200 backstroke. Sam Straughan won golds in the 13 yr age group in 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle and silvers in the 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle. Alex Vine won the 17+ yr 200 IM and 100 butterfly and a silver in the 200 butterfly. Anna Jemielity collected her golds in the 16 yr age group 200IM and the 50 backstoke and a bronze in the 200 freestyle. Sophie Cordice won her gold in the 16 yr age group 50 breaststroke and silvers in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. Daniel Crawford won his gold in the 14 yr 200 backstroke, a silver in the 200 butterfly and a bronze in the 200 IM. Scott Mudge won gold in the 17 yr age group in the 200 butterfly and a silver in the 100 butterfly. Joshua Alfred won gold in the 13 yr 100 freestyle, a silver in the 50 butterfly and a bronze in the 50 freestyle. Young Evie Lees won her gold in the 10 yr age group 200 butterfly and a bronze in the 200 backstroke. Katie Giles collected 2 silver medals in the 16 yr 50/100 backstrokes. Kayla Driesinger gained a silver in the 13 yr 200 breaststroke and a bronze in the 100 IM. Tim Philpott collected 3 bronze medals in the 17 yr age group in the 50/100/200 breaststrokes. Kimberley Driesinger gained a bronze in the 16 yr 200 breaststroke, likewise Ellie Straughan gained her bronze in the 14 yr 200 breaststroke. James Poulter collected a bronze in nthe 17+ yr 50 freestyle and finally Becky O'Brien gained her bronze in the 16 yr 400 freestyle.
